Walks and drawings in my favourite places

Carole Bury. Lindy's Walk. Cotswolds

Walks around my home in the high hills of the Cotswolds.

These drawings are a response to landscape, places that are truly significant to me.

I capture the patterns and planes of these meaningful places by marking, scribbling, and gouging onto paper using pencils, charcoal, and pens.

Shapes, textures and marks are lifted directly from my outdoor sketchbooks and energetically revitalized in the studio.

Only when the drawings begin to sing can I translate into stitch and paper constructions. The resulting paper textiles distil essential elements into a different medium.
